Problem: The legacy goarmy.com platform was outdated, and the Army's primary recruitment site needed a full modernization under strict government budget and compliance constraints, followed by sustained engineering ownership so the platform didn't drift back out of date after launch.

Process: Directed the retirement of the legacy platform and led a fourteen person team, including backend and security consultants, through a full redesign, AEM platform migration, and relaunch of the U.S. Army's primary recruitment website, under active CAC/T3 security clearance, pushing the team to hit WCAG AA accessibility from the start.
Introduced agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retros, and regular team meetups, pushed for disciplined project and Jira management, and migrated the team's Jira and Confluence instances to support the new workflow.
Stayed on as Technology Lead and continued building and leading a team of six to ten developers afterward, personally writing and shipping an AEM security remediation that removed PII exposure from public JSON endpoints and pulled hardcoded API keys out of the codebase, an Adobe Target effort that diagnosed mobile responsive design issues across browsers using real analytics, then shipped the design changes users actually needed, a Tailwind v3 to v4 migration with the Vite 6 to 8 upgrade already planned, Cypress end to end test coverage, and feature flag security in the GitLab CI/CD pipeline.
Outcome: Delivered a WCAG AA compliant, high performance platform serving millions of monthly visitors, and was promoted to Technology Lead within 14 months of joining the project. The platform has stayed current and secure since, a real PII exposure gap was closed, the front end runs on the latest Tailwind release, automated end to end tests now catch regressions before they reach production, and mobile responsive fixes driven by real analytics have shipped without security or stability slipping.
